The Alternate Delegate and I attended the Southeastern Delegate Get-Together in Atlanta in February. We heard reports from our Southeast Trustee, Trustee at Large-US, and a Class A Trustee, non-alcoholic.
This is a busy year for the Southeast Region. The 75th International Convention of AA will be held in San Antonio, Texas July 1-4, 2010. There are opportunities for members of Area 73 to volunteer not only at the convention but also to help staff the Hospitality Suite for the Southeast Region.
The 66th Southeastern Conference, in conjunction with the 54th Florida State Convention, will be held in Miami, Florida, August 11-15, 2010. You can find all the information here: www.54flstateconvention.com.
December 10-12, 2010 are the dates for the Southeast Regional Forum to be held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Forums are a chance for you to meet members of the General Service Office, Grapevine, the Board, and other service oriented members of the Southeast Region. There is no registration fee for this Forum. The next Forum will be held in 2012.
The Spring Assembly was held at Cedar Lakes, Ripley on March 19-21, 2010. The Fall Assembly, which will be our election Assembly, will be held in Huntington, September 17-19, 2010. If you think you may be interested in standing for office please take time to look at our Area Guidelines and learn the duties and suggestions for holding Area offices. Region 5, with District 16 hosting, are preparing for our 58th Area 73 Convention July 16-18, 2010. The Convention will be in Morgantown and there is a great line up of speakers. Come and support our Area 73 functions.
The Delegate position has taught me more about our wonderful fellowship than I could have ever imagined. I hope in the future we can become more involved in AA as a whole. Thank you for the opportunity to allow me to grow in service for Alcoholics Anonymous and Area 73.
